Fading Memories Can Be Given New Digital Life At Rahway Library Event

RAHWAY—For anyone wishing to convert old photographs, slides, films, and VHS tapes to digital versions that can be used for online picture sharing services and other social media, the Friends of the Rahway Public Library will sponsor digital media conversion event at the library on Saturday, June 2.

The Friends group is partnering with a document imaging service to provide this digital translation at an affordable cost. The Friends will receive a share of overall receipts, which will be used to benefit the library.

Patrons can bring the above items, including 8mm and 16mm films and entire photo albums, to the library on June 2. A representative of the firm will be set up at a between noon and 3 p.m. on June 2 to process orders. Customers will receive their images back on a DVD in several weeks, and for an additional fee, the company can also upload content directly to the web. Other production options are available, and there is a discount for large quantities.

The Friends of the Library will also be there that day with information and sign-up forms for patrons wishing to join the group.
