LINDEN – Police arrested a 43-year-old Camden man who allegedly loaded four stolen televisions into a waiting cab on Sunday evening.

Franklin Gould was charged with third degree shoplifting.

Police responded to the Linden Walmart on West Edgar Road at 6:33 p.m. on May 20 to investigate a reported shoplifting incident. A loss prevention officer told police that he had observed Gould place four flat-screen televisions in a shopping cart and leave the store without paying for them, authorities said.

Gould then allegedly loaded the televisions into the trunk of a taxi cab that he had taken to the store. A security officer ran outside and told the cab driver not to leave because the televisions were stolen, police said.

Gould allegedly ran away from the cab, but was stopped by a responding police officer. He was placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters. Bail was set at $5,000.

The total value of the four televisions is $1,312, police said.

The charge against Gould is merely an accusation; he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
