SOUTH AMBOY — Sciortino’s Harbor Lights and the South Amboy Branch YMCA have announced announce “Proceeds Day” benefiting the Y’s “Send a Kid to Camp” Program.

Proceeds Day will be held at Sciortino’s on Thursday, May 31, from 11:30 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. Sciortino’s has offered to donate 15 percent of all bills, dine-in only, to the Y’s camp scholarship program when a Proceeds Day flyer is presented. The restaurant is located at 132 South Broadway in South Amboy.

As a special treat, entertainment will be provided by talented strolling magician Will Fern from 6-8 p.m. He has been performing magic for over 20 years and is most locally known for his strolling magic at restaurants like the Stagehouse and the Frog & the Peach. In 2011, Fern was named the International Champion of Strolling Magic.

Sciortino’s Harbor Lights is a fourth generation family-run restaurant, and one of the oldest pizzerias in the country. Their brick oven pizzas and family style pasta are well known in the community, dating back to their restaurant in Perth Amboy. Owners Lou Seminski, Sr., and his son Lou Seminski, Jr., have established a sense of community pride at Sciortino’s where all are invited to enjoy great company and great food. They are also recognized for their philanthropy to many local causes.

“The YMCA has a long history of supporting families in the communities they serve, so it was natural for us to join this initiative through Proceeds Day,” said Lou Seminski, Jr.

Summer Day Camp is about making friends, realizing potential, exploring creativity, and so much more. The YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge & South Amboy awarded over $50,000 in scholarships in 2011 through the “Send a Kid to Camp” Program. The Program provides deserving children with the opportunity to experience the life-changing power of summer camp. Last year, over $8,000 of the money raised supported the children of South Amboy & Sayreville. With your support at Sciortino’s Proceeds Day, we hope to give more young children the chance to have the summer of their dreams at Camp S.A.Y.
