MOUNTAINSIDE–Forty Kohl’s “Associates in Action” gathered at Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside to participate in Kohl’s Go-Green Day, a national one day effort to volunteer time to clean up and beautify the outdoors. Kohl’s associates from eight different stores joined together and planted flowers, cleared debris and used environment friendly cleaning products to wash vehicles and the play ground equipment.
Kohl’s has long been a supporter of Children’s Specialized Hospital through the Kohl’s Cares program, which raises funds for children’s health and educational opportunities through the sale of $5 books and plush toys. Net profits from the sales go to support children’s health and educational initiatives in the communities Kohl’s services. Children’s Specialized Hospital’s Friday Night Fever, Lighting Wheels and Autism programs are supported by Kohl’s.
Since 2000, New Jersey Kohl’s stores have donated over $4 million dollars to Children’s Specialized Hospital.
“Kohl’s support has made a significant impact in the services we provide and how we are able to improve the lives of the children and families we serve,” said Philip Salerno, III, chief development officer and president, Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation. “To extend beyond financial support by sending in their Associates in Action exemplifies their own commitment to a culture of caring.”
With Kohl’s support, the hospital has created Kohl’s community events that promote outreach, education and activity for children with special needs. This year, the free carnivals are scheduled for May 12 at Children’s Specialized Hospital locations in Toms River, Hamilton and Mountainside. Kohl’s is also the presenting sponsor for the Walk n’ Roll on May 19, Johnson Park in Piscataway. For more information, visit www.childrens-specialized.org.
