EDISON — Temple Emanu-El, located at 100 James Street in Edison, announced the following events for May:
May 12 at 7:30 p.m.–30th Annual Spring Concert Back by popular demand, “Rhapsody in Gold” 50 years of great music and song! Enjoy the best pop music of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90, and 00s. Tap your feet, clap your hands and sing along with the songs of The Beatles, Abba, Aretha Franklin, James Taylor, Neil Diamond, The Supremes, Bee Gees, Elton John, Billy Joel and Adele. There will be a tribute to Whitney Houston and much more. Reserve tickets in advance and save money. $25 adults, $18 seniors and students. (Add $5 per ticket when paying at the door.)
May 15 at 7 p.m.-“Women Who Influenced Jewish History” Mini-Series will welcome special guest speaker Rabbi Sally Priesand, America’s first ordained female Rabbi. Join this conversation as she speaks about her 40 years in the Rabbinate. The program is open to the community and is free of charge.
May 20-Movie Night: Temple Emanu-El and the Jewish Film Series presents the acclaimed Israeli film, “Once I Was.” It takes place during the summer of 1968, “the summer of love” and sexual revolution. A teenage boy in Haifa finds a job with a mysterious Holocaust survivor who make her living as a matchmaker. She takes the boy on a journey of initiation into the forbidden world found in the depths of downtown Haifa, where love takes a surprising form. The program is open to the community and is free of charge.
