ELIZABETH — For the second year, United Way of Greater Union County (UWGUC), will be participating in the Barclays Tickets Fore Charity™ Program, a fundraising initiative designed to improve the quality of life in the communities where PGA Tour tournaments are held. The Barclays, the first event in the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedExCup, will feature 125 of the top players on Tour, Aug. 21-26 at Bethpage State Park: The Black Course in Farmingdale, N.Y.
Through the program, The Barclays is providing 501(c)(3) organizations, like UWGUC, the opportunity to promote tournament tickets to benefit the organization. All of the net proceeds from the ticket sales – net proceeds exclude tax or processing fees – go to charity: 75 percent to UWGUC; and 25 percent to The First Tee of Metropolitan New York.
The First Tee is an initiative of the World Golf Foundation aimed at positively impacting the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and education programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.
The ticket available through Tickets Fore Charity is a weekly grounds ticket available for $150. This is a grounds ticket for each day of the tournament from Tuesday, Aug. 21 through Sunday, Aug. 26. UWGUC will receive $112.50 of each ticket purchased on their behalf. Tickets can now be purchased on behalf of UWGUC by visiting www.buytfc.com and typing in the promo code: PITCH.
The PGA Tour, its players and tournaments support more than 3,000 charities. In 2011, The Barclays donated $1.3 million to local charities.
