NJTODAY.NET's online business directory

SPRINGFIELD–The Springfield Free Public Library offers delivery services to the homebound. The library is in the process of collecting applications from potential delivery recipients as well as volunteer drivers.

Eligible individuals include Springfield residents with a valid library card who are temporarily or permanently disabled and unable to travel to the library. The application must be filled out and certified by a physician, visiting nurse or other health care professional. You will be matched with a delivery volunteer after the library receives your application.

The library is looking for volunteers who enjoy helping people and can afford to donate their time. You must be willing to use your own car for deliveries. Volunteers will need to spend some time getting to know delivery recipients, and find out about their likes and dislikes so these can be communicated to library staff for better selection. Volunteers need to sign a waiver and show proof of valid car insurance.

Applications may be picked up at the reference desk. They are also available on the library‚Äôs website under “Programs.” The Springfield Free Public Library is located at 66 Mountain Avenue.
