RAHWAY – Police arrested a 28-year-old Rahway man on Friday, following a three-month investigation. During a search of his residence on the 200 block of West Main Street, officers recovered a stolen nine-millimeter handgun and drugs, authorities said.

Jamal Boston was charged with possession of a weapon, receiving stolen property, violating New Jersey’s prohibition against certain people possessing weapons, possession of hollow point bullets, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Boston was taken to Union County Jail; bail was set at $82,500.

According to New Jersey Corrections Department records, Boston was released from state prison in 2009 after serving a sentence for prior drug and weapons offenses, as well as resisting arrest.

Detective Sgt. Richard Long of the Rahway Police Department’s Tactical Patrol Unit conducted the investigation.

The charges against Boston are merely accusations; he is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
