Pete Fornatale…

Any listener of radio (especially in the northeast), will know that name…

He was a d.j. when the only definition of d.j. was a disc jockey on the radio…

He was a pioneer of ‘album-rock’ and an example to every free-spirit who loved music and loved radio…

His voice carried with it experience, fun, and a true love of what he was doing…

So much so that, when the corporations started taking over, He decided to leave his long-standing post at WNEW and went over to Sirius Radio…

He said that “the corporations were turning the chefs into fast-food waiters…”…and he was right…

Having spent a good part of my life on radio, I saw it coming as well…we all did…and now, it has gotten even worse…the ‘independents’ are few and far between, getting less and less each day…

Pete Fornatale was indeed a true ‘independent’…

Pete Fornatale passed away at the age of only 66…

I, myself, and the entire radio community, both behind the mic and in front of the speakers, will miss him…
