SOUTH BRUNSWICK — On Saturday, May 5, the EARTH Center, home to Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County will host a Garden Season Kick-Off & Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Avenue, South Brunswick. This event is an opportunity for gardeners to get information needed for a successful garden and purchase starter plants. (The event will be held rain or shine.)
Attendees can consult with Master Gardeners regarding garden plans or past problems and access their vast knowledge of horticulture. Take home literature such as university fact sheets will be available. Also Middlesex County’s Agricultural Agent will be on hand to consult with as well. The enormous selection of plants for sale includes (but is not limited to); heirloom tomatoes, unusual varieties of perennials & annuals, flowering vines, ornamental grasses; and dozens of herbs and vegetables for your garden. This event is a great way to celebrate National Herb Day as well. Consider bringing a wagon or cart to transport your purchases.
Says Bill Hlubik, Middlesex County Ag Agent, “This is a great opportunity for gardeners to get research based garden tips, and healthy plant material all in one place. Our central location in one of Middlesex County’s most beautiful parks makes a sweet day trip for folks throughout the Garden State.”
The EARTH Center is located in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Avenue, South Brunswick. Directions are available online at www.co.middlesex.nj.us/extensionservices.
