EDISON – Twenty-five Metuchen High School students participated in the Middlesex County Arts High School Student Festival held May 1 at Middlesex County Community College. The festival was the culminating event for the 12-week Arts High program.
Students danced, sang classical and Broadway vocal pieces, improvised jazz ensembles, presented paintings, sculptures and photography, read original writings and presented dramatic monologues and films.
Talented students from high schools throughout the county auditioned last December for a place in the program. Beginning in January, they met weekly to learn directly from recognized visual and performing artists. Arts courses in the program are taught at an advanced level and provide a rigorous curriculum for developing artistic skills and creative expression in the art form of the student’s choice.
