Edison To Celebrate Earth Day

EDISON — The 2012 Edison Earth Day Celebration will be co-presented by the Township of Edison, Edison Township Environmental Commission (ETEC) and the Edison Sustainable Jersey Green Team (ESJGT) on Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The outdoor event will be staged at Edison Memorial Tower & Museum/Edison State Park, 37 Christie Street, Edison. (The rain date is April 28).

Mayor Antonia Ricigliano will make an opening address, followed by statements from Assemblyman Patrick Diegnan and Middlesex County Freeholder Deputy Director Ron Rios, in recognition of the 2012 Edison Earth Day Celebration. A number of presenters, exhibitors and speakers are also planned. Event activities include: Terra Nova Garden Club and event volunteers will plant flowers and place mulch, as well as the gather and consolidate organic debris at the event site; ETEC quality/depth testing of water at the Collect Pond; Central Jersey Bicycle Association (CJBA) Bike Ride through the area.

Additionally, volunteers will participate in clearing and cleaning the site, before and after the event.

Ample street parking will be available for event participants and visitors.
