25-Year-Old New Brunswick Man Killed In Apparent Shooting

NEW BRUNSWICK — Police are actively investigating what appears to be the fatal shooting of a New Brunswick man, who was killed early this morning outside of a city bar and restaurant, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Anthony A. Caputo, director of the New Brunswick Police Department, announced.

Javier Olvera-Mondragon, 25, was pronounced dead at 2:02 a.m. outside the Los Amigos Tavern at Remsen Avenue after police were dispatched to the scene at 1:49 a.m.

A preliminary investigation by Detective Ronoldy Martinez of the New Brunswick Police Department and Investigator Sean O’Lone of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that the victim was shot following a dispute inside the bar.

The results of an autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office were not immediately available.

Authorities said that no arrests have been made, but the investigation is continuing.

Olvera-Mondragon was employed as a cook at two restaurants in East Brunswick.
