RAHWAY — This Saturday, April 14, CHIKARA will be performing at The Rahway Rec Center, 275 East Milton Avenue. This is the first time they’ve been in New Jersey for nearly a year and this may be their only visit to the Garden State in 2012. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the belltime is 2 p.m.

CHIKARA is a group of professional wrestlers that founder Mike Quackenbush describes as, “a comic book come to life.” Their style combines traditional wrestling with sci-fi and fantasy elements to create a “tongue-in-cheek” approach that really engages the crowd. CHIKARA takes both the name and logo from the Japanese kanji meaning strength.

There will be a total of nine matches. A few of the highlights include two, inter-gender contests between Sara Del Rey and Kodama and Saturyne and Kobald. The afternoon will also feature an eight-man tag team main event, a CHIKARA specialty, as well as a bout will feature Dragonfly vs. Jakob Hammermeier. CHIKARA aims to bring wrestling to the non-wrestling fan, emphasizing fun, and recognizing no divisions of gender, age, weight, or experience.
