PERTH AMBOY – Police arrested a 53-year-old Perth Amboy woman who allegedly broke into a car parked in a Jefferson Street lot on Friday afternoon.

Marva Regina Mathis was charged with burglary and receiving stolen property. Judge George M. Boyd set bail at $30,000 with no 10 percent option.

Police were dispatched to Jefferson Street to investigated a report of two suspicious people who were looking into a blue Chevrolet in a parking lot at 1:12 p.m. on April 6. Officer Joseph Holland arrested Mathis, and police say that she surrendered a GPS unit that was inside the vehicle.

The charges against Mathis are merely accusations; she is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
