RAHWAY – Union County Performing Arts Center will host two intimate live concerts this month in The Loft at Union County PAC. The fierce and independent Amy Correia will perform on Saturday, April 14 at 8 p.m. and folk troubadour Ana Egge will perform on Saturday, April 21 at 8 p.m.
Correia has been compared to Tom Waits and Michelle Shocked and The New York Times calls her “a singular talent.” After two major releases on EMI, Correia raised more than $35,000 from her fans to produce and release her third record, “You Go Your Way”, which “veers seamlessly from arena rock to gospel music that includes both power chords and a string quartet,” according to NPR.
Egge, a Saskatchewan-born, Brooklyn-based folk troubadour, released her album “Bad Blood,” last August. The 12-song set was produced by Steve Earle and recorded at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, N.Y. Earle said, “Ana Egge’s songs are low and lonesome, big square-stare noir ballads which she plays on a guitar she built with her own two hands and sings like she’s telling us her deepest, darkest secrets.”
