Job Seekers Welcome At Union County College’s TLD Talent Network Career Awareness Day

ELIZABETH — Job-seekers will benefit from two events this spring at Union County College implemented in cooperation with the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the New Jersey TLD Talent Network and the Union County Workforce Investment Board.

The first, a career awareness event, is designed to bring TLD job seekers together with industry leaders and human resource professionals from companies in TLD (Transportation, Logistics and Distribution) industry sectors. The event will be held on April 24 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Thomas H. Brown Center located on the fifth floor of the College’s Kellogg Building, at 40 W. Jersey Street, Elizabeth.

Job seekers are encouraged to attend to obtain information regarding jobs and careers in supply chain management, logistics, transportation, operations, material transport, inventory, warehousing, trucking and more. Professionals who are in career transition, unemployed, underemployed, experienced and inexperienced in this industry sector are welcome.

Ann Strauss-Weider, President of NJ Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, and Ed Cole, Director of Operations and Transportation, East Coast Warehouse, are industry leaders who will share the experience and knowledge gained over their long careers in supply chain management and transportation. Christina Hertzog will talk about employment prospects in New Jersey for professional and entry level job candidates in TLD functional areas. Included will be information regarding training, education and skill requirements in a variety of positions. In addition, Patty Anderson, Director of the Clark Public Library, will introduce Internet-based job search tools where listings for TLD openings can be found.

Participants should bring a current resume. Following the formal agenda, a workshop on “How-To Polish Your Job Search” to gain entry to the job you seek in TLD will be offered by representatives from the Union County One Stop Career Center. The representatives will also be available for on-on-one discussions regarding your job search. In addition, interactive demonstrations of Internet-based job search tools will be available.

The second event is a Job Fair that will be held at Union County College’s Cranford campus on May 2. Companies from the Transportation, Logistics and Distribution industry will be available to speak to job seekers about current job and career opportunities. Last year more than 65 employers participated in this event.
