MIDDLESEX COUNTY — The Middlesex County College fashion club, called “We Set the Trends,” collected prom dresses to give to girls in Perth Amboy who might otherwise not be able to afford them. The effort, in collaboration with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, which runs a similar program, collected 54 dresses, 13 pairs of shoes and five purses from members of the college community. Here, club members sort the dresses. From left: Taleeyah Salahuddin (Somerset), Priscilla Blanco (Carteret), and Haleigh Simon (Perth Amboy). The club promotes self-confidence, a positive self-image, leadership and organizational skills while encouraging future fashion professionals. (Photo courtesy of Middlesex County College)
