CLARK — On Tuesday, March 27, the Clark School District honored Arthur L. Johnson High School’s championship bowling team at the Board of Education’s “Showcase of Success” Meeting.
After last year’s successful season, in which the bowling team won the Watchung Conference, Union County, and State Sectional Championship, it would have been natural to lower the expectations for this year’s team, as numerous seniors graduated from the program last year. In spite of this, the bowling program at Arthur L. Johnson High School exceeded expectations by repeating as Watchung Conference, Union County, and State Sectional Champions for the second straight year.
The team was led by veteran coach Michele Zaleski and her longtime volunteer, Steve Hopkins. This year’s squad consisted of the following bowlers: Jason Chesnowski, Tim Coons, Vincent DiGeronimo, Michael Griffin, Steven Kotowski, Danny Levitz, Tom Malanga, John Messina, Gus Ochoa, and Bobby Weisensee.
The Supervisor of Athletics, Health, and Physical Education, Gus Kalikas, said, “Our bowling team once again took our school and the Clark community on a wonderful ride. To match the success of last year’s team is a tremendous achievement, and the Clark School District, along with the community of Clark, are all extremely proud of the Bowling program and all of its accomplishments.”
