Perth Amboy Police Make Drug Arrests

PERTH AMBOY – On Thursday afternoon, Perth Amboy police detectives arrested two suspects who were allegedly involved in a narcotics transaction in the area of Smith and McClellan streets, authorities announced Monday.

Noel Perez was charged with possession of heroin, possession with the intent to distribute, possession with the intent to distribute within 1,000 of a school, possession with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public library, distribution of heroin, and possession of a hypodermic needle syringe and drug paraphernalia.

Melvin Berrios was charged with possession of heroin.

Detectives David Guzman and Carlos Rodriguez observed the alleged narcotics transaction at approximately 3 p.m. on March 15.

The charges against Perez and Berrios are merely accusations. They are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
