METUCHEN — The Edgar Middle School Science Team finished in second place at the fourth annual Middle School Science Bowl held at St. Joseph’s High School. Twenty-four students from Edgar participated in this event which was held on Saturday, March 17. The group included students from sixth, seventh, and eighth grades.
Students completed a 55-minute written test covering a wide variety of science topics, followed by a live question and answer buzzer round for the four teams scoring highest on the written test. The Edgar students had the highest score in the written portion of the competition and came in second place overall in a close buzzer round.
The individual high scorers in the written competition competed in the buzzer round. They included Siri Uppuluri, Shivani Pandey, Anton Popov, Dhruv Mehta, and Casey Puerzer. Science teachers Judy Graziano, John Butler, and Ed Ronk accompanied the team to the competition.
