Remembering The Past: Happy St. Patrick’s Day

SOUTH AMBOY-On March 19, 1943, a St. Patrick’s Day Party was held at Hoffman High School Auditorium under the auspices of South Amboy First Aid. Music was by the Nicorvo Orchestra. Proceeds were used for the Squad War Relief Fund. Admission was 50 cents.

A St. Patrick’s Day Celebration was held under the direction of St. Mary’s Church on Wednesday evening, March 17,1948. Adult members of the Parish held a social in St. Mary’s Guild Hall. There was a jukebox dance for the young folks in the hall under the direction of Rev. Bernard Coan.

In 1953, Daylight Bakery had St. Patrick Day cookies and other special items to help you have a real celebration.
