CLARK — In an effort to encourage hands-on, manipulative-based lessons, Denise Picciano’s 7th grade math classes at the Carl H. Kumpf Middle School in Clark used VersaTiles to help practice their integer operations. VersaTiles combine the challenge of a puzzle with the purposeful practice of a workbook. Students were able to practice their skills independently and at their own pace, or to work with a partner to share knowledge and techniques for working with integers. Pictured in the photograph above are seventh graders (from top to bottom, left to right) Brendan Stanzione, Joanna Muller, Alison Bretz, Casey Dohn, Remy Sirc, Carissa Vuono, Dean Ridente, Marta Mickiewicz, Emely Osorio, and Jack Lomeli.
