STATE — This Saturday, March 10, is “Passport Day in the USA,” a U.S. Department of State initiative to accommodate passport seekers by offering special Saturday morning hours at hundreds of locations across the country.

“Passport requirements have expanded in recent years as a result of the increasing need to keep our nation’s borders secure. As a result, AAA strongly recommends that all travelers secure a passport in advance so that when the time comes to travel, panic will not rule the day as travelers wait in hopes that their passport will arrive before their scheduled departure date,” stated Tracy Noble, Manager of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic.

On Saturday, March 10, only, will be able to apply for a passport without making an appointment. Applicants can apply for standard processing (4-6 weeks) or pay an additional $60 for expedited processing (2-3 weeks, door-to-door). Most locations also offer passport photos on site.

New Jersey Passport Day locations include the Edison Main Post Office at 2101 Lincoln Highway, Edison (from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.), the Metuchen Main Post Office, 360 Main Street, Metuchen (from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.), the Middlesex County Clerk’s Office, 75 Bayard Street, New Brunswick (from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.), the Old Bridge Public Library, 1 Old Bridge Plaza, Old Bridge (from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and the Union County Clerk’s Office, 300 North Avenue, Westfield (from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.).
