RAHWAY — On Monday, Feb. 27, jazz bassist Ben Wolfe held a workshop for students from the Rahway High School Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Lab, and the Rahway Middle School Jazz Band at Rahway Middle School. Wolfe’s presentation and workshop was made possible due to the programs of the Wharton Music Center in Berkeley Heights.

Wolfe is both a talented musician and an educator. A teacher at the Julliard School, Ben Wolfe recorded many albums and soundtracks with Harry Connick, Jr. over a five-year period. He was also a member of the Wynton Marsalis Septet and played with the touring band of Diana Krall, including her CD of “When I Look in Your Eyes” a Grammy Award winner. After a performance of the songs from his album “No Strangers Here” at The Jazz Standard, New York Times reviewer Ben Ratliff called one of his songs “a great jazz solo, one probably worth a spot on a shortlist for best of the decade.”
