CLARK – During the month of February, Frank K. Hehnly Elementary students in all grades participated in Jump Rope for Heart as part of Healthy Heart Month. All activities took place during their scheduled physical education classes.

Caleb Bain, the Clark school’s physical education teacher, prepared various stations for the students with facts related to their hearts, nutrition, exercise and its effect on our heart. Activities included jumping rope as per the program established by the American Heart Association.

Smith was born with a congenital heart defect and had successful open heart surgery in 2010. She leads a normal active life as a fourth grader at Frank K. Hehnly School. Through the school’s partnership with the American Heart Association, all monies raised through Jump Rope for Heart donations continue to fund research for causes and successful treatment of congenital heart defects.
