PERTH AMBOY – City police arrested a 17-year-old Metuchen girl and charged her with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Saturday afternoon.

At 4:53 p.m. on Feb. 25, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Columbus Circle on a repot of people smoking drugs in a parked vehicle. Sgt. Andy Montalvo, who was off-duty, spotted an out-of-place grey Nissan Sentra parked in the area with three people seated inside.

Police investigated and made the arrest. The case was referred to the Juvenile Aid Bureau.

As in all criminal cases, the charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
