RAHWAY — ConocoPhillips – Bayway Refinery has donated $15,000 to the Cardiac Catheterization Lab Replacement Project at RWJ Rahway.
Thanks to the support of ConocoPhillips and other funders, RWJ Rahway completed the major renovation of its Cardiac Cath Lab in November 2011.
According to Marlene Lubinger, president of the RWJ Rahway Foundation, almost one third of the people living in the hospital’s service area are 65 or older and that population is growing as the baby boomers age. Last year 62% of all patients admitted to the hospital were 65+ and more than half had a cardiac-related diagnosis. In addition, more than half of all patients admitted to the Emergency Center have a cardiac-related diagnosis.
“Understanding the need to provide cardiac caths in a nearby and familiar setting for our patients and their families, the Hospital renovated and replaced the outdated Cardiac Cath Lab with a state-of-the-art Cath Lab” said Lubinger. In November the new lab with new capabilities opened with a new name…The Cardiovascular Lab at RWJ Rahway.
ConocoPhillips – Bayway Refinery has been a long-time supporter of the hospital, partnering with RWJ Rahway in major renovations and purchasing of state-of-the art equipment including the Cardiac Telemetry Unit, the Fund for Technology Advancements, and a patient communications project.
