CLARK – Second graders in Jennifer Lewis’ class at Frank K. Hehnly Elementary in Clark took on the roles of author, illustrator and public speaker. The students came up with their own ideas for a storyline, and wrote a complete story, including illustrations. They designed their book covers and practiced reading their stories to other classes in the school. The highlight of the project was an “Author’s Tea Party” where family members were invited to school for snacks and to observe the students one by one, read their stories aloud to an audience of parents, teachers, school principal and the superintendent of schools.
