EDISON — Janissa Delzo of Middlesex reached two milestones on the basketball court in the middle of February. On Feb. 15, she scored 17 points to become the school’s all-time leading female scorer, breaking the record set by Sarah Williamson in 1998. Delzo’s performance led the Lady Rams to a thrilling 56-52 victory over South Plainfield in the GMC Tournament.

Later in the week, Delzo netted 10 points in a GMC quarterfinal loss to Bishop Ahr and nine in a Prep tourney setback to Rutgers Prep to pass Arthur Blake (Class of 1974) and move into second place on the school’s all-time points list encompassing boys and girls with 1,435 career points.

Delzo only trails W-H scoring leader Brian Roach (Class of 1980), who scored 1,749 points. Delzo, who will graduate as the school’s top female point producer, leads the Rams into the Non-Public South B sectional playoffs beginning Feb. 28 at home vs. Wildwood Catholic.
