Former Rahway School Board Member Passes Away

BRICK — Ronald Matusaitis, a former member of the Rahway Board of Education, died Friday, Feb. 10 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. He was 74.

Born in Elizabeth, Matusaitis lived in Rahway until he retired to Brick in 2000. He was an avid baseball fan and had played minor league ball for the Baltimore Orioles in the 1950s.

Matusaitis owned and operated Lorron Inc. in Woodbridge for over 15 years. Prior to that, he was an executive at Paul’s Trucking Corporation in Woodbridge. Matusaitis was a member of the Rahway Elks.

Matusaitis is survived by his wife of 52 years, Loretta; his son, Ronald of Freehold, his daughters, Beth and her husband, Michael McClelland, of Brick, and Linda and her husband, Phil Russo, of Westfield, and his sister, Carol Keefe of Old Bridge, as well as nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home in Toms River.
