SOUTH AMBOY-I’m sure most of you remember when Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday, Feb. 12 and George Washington’s birthday on Feb. 22 were both a holiday before becoming President’s Day.

The following is from 1942 material given to me: On Friday night, February 20, Public School # 2 held the following to commemorate Presidents Lincoln and Washington in the auditorium.

1. Salute to Flag sing “The Star Spangled Banner”
2. Address of Welcome by Gloria Brown
3. Announcer: Hope Hoffman
4. George Washington: Peggy Ann James and George Munn
5. Lincoln: Joan Zuspan
6. Washington, Our Hero: Patricia Beshada
7. Brave, True and Kind: Margaret Munn, Freddy Kurtz, Ronald McCracken and Mary Frank
8. I Sing of My America: Alice Miller
