SOMERSET– New Jersey City University All-American junior set-up bowler Kelly Daunno of Carteret has been named Northeast Conference (NEC) Women’s Bowler of the Week for the first time in her career after pacing NJCU to a dominant effort at the Capital Classic from February 10-12. The award was announced on Thursday.
Daunno becomes the fourth different NJCU bowler to win the league’s Player of the Week award since NJCU joined the Division I conference as an associate member in the sport for the 2009-10 season. NJCU bowlers have now captured the award a combined six times (two have won twice), and Daunno is the first Gothic Knight to be honored since her older sister, current Senior Jennifer Daunno received the distinction on November 24, 2010.
Daunno, a 2011 Honorable Mention All-American, earned All-Tournament Team distinction with a colossal 20.647 frame average and a filled frame average of 90.4 percent (103-of-113), a strike percentage of 45.8 percent (60-131) and a spare percentage of 86.7 percent (52-60).
