LINDEN – Two Newark boys, a 17-year-old and a 12-year-old, were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana on Wednesday after a Linden police officer pulled them over in a stolen pickup truck, authorities said.

Officer Keith Milos was patrolling at 10:43 a.m. when he received a LoJack “hit” for a car that had been reported stolen from Perth Amboy, police said. Milos pulled over the vehicle, a silver 2006 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, with assistance from a backup officer. Police smelled what they believed to be a burning marijuana odor coming from the vehicle. They arrested the 17-year-old driver and a 12-year-old passenger.

The 17-year-old was taken to the Union County Juvenile Detention Facility in Linden, and the 12-year-old was released to a parent, authorities said.

As in all criminal cases, the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
