LINDEN — Working with detectives from the New York Police Department’s Major Case Squad, Linden Police were able to recover pallets of automobile windshield glass sheets that had been stolen from a Linden business in December on Monday, authorities said.
On Dec. 29, a tractor-trailer loaded with 40,000 lbs. of the glass was stolen from Log Ex Solutions on East Linden Avenue. The tractor was recovered in Perth Amboy on Jan. 21, minus the trailer and its contents.
After a six-week investigation into the theft, Auto Squad Detective Frank A. Leporino received information that the glass sheets may be found in the Bronx, New York. Approximately 85 percent of the stolen glass, worth an estimated $45,000, was recovered.
No arrests were made, but authorities said that both the New York and Linden police departments are continuing to investigate.
