EDISON — An art exhibition, “Self: Scape,” will be held at the Middlesex County College Studio Theatre Gallery from Feb. 2 to March 8. The gallery is open weekdays from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A reception for the artists, which is open to the public, will be held Thursday, Feb. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m.
“Self: Scape is an exhibition that conceptually questions the metaphoric redefinition of the environment through the artist’s perspective,” said Jen Blazina, a professor at Drexel University and the curator of the show. “Whether it is a self-portrait or an occupied space, the artwork depicts a new viewpoint on how your surroundings effect how you see yourself. Media does not define the show but rather the artists’ take on what does Self: Scape mean to them.”
The exhibition includes international and national artists: Mayumi Hamanaka, Lena Lapschina, Ron Saunders, Tatana Kellner, Kim Owens and Anda Dubinskis.
Professor Blazina is a working artist in Philadelphia and has shown her work all over the nation and world, including California, Florida, Maryland, Texas and New York, in addition to the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Italy.
