RAHWAY – Rahway Arts District Inc. presents Marcel Truppa: Collages & Constructions, an exhibition of artwork now on display at LightSoundSpace art gallery and music lounge, 1591 Irving Street in Rahway, New Jersey. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 7-9 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.
Award-winning artist Marcel Truppa is known for his collages, assemblages, and constructions. Truppa takes objects collected over the course of many years – everything from old piano keys to swatches of fabric, compasses, chalk, repurposed pictures and hand-drawn elements – and reassembles them into works of art.
In August, Truppa’s collection of hundreds of collages, constructions, drawings, and paintings, was threatened by flooding caused by hurricane Irene. His studio/gallery on Irving Street in Rahway sustained heavy damage, but much of the collection was moved prior to the storm and preserved. This exhibition celebrates the artist’s creativity and spirit. The exhibition mainly focuses on two-dimensional collages and assemblages. All of the works are for sale.
