State Council To Hold Artists’ Roundtable At The Art Center

SUMMIT — The New Jersey State Council on the Arts will hold its first meeting of 2012 at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in Summit on Thursday, Feb. 2. The council’s business meeting will be held from 1 – 2:45 p.m. and be devoted to the importance of artists in our communities. A Council vote and announcement of the 2012 Artist Fellowship awards in the categories of crafts, sculpture, photography, poetry and playwriting will be made. The meeting is open to the public.

This year’s annual Artists’ Roundtable will follow the business meeting from 3-5:30 p.m. Topics will be of interest to artists working in all disciplines. Three 50-minute sessions will feature presentations on marketing and publicity strategies and tools; professional opportunities for artists; and creative solutions for securing work, exhibition and performance space. The event will conclude with a networking session.
