HIGHLAND PARK – The Raritan Valley Chapter of Hadassah has announced the following upcoming events:

Raritan Valley Chapter Hadassah Afternoon General Meeting
Learn the Japanese art of origami: Shelley Phillips, Highland Park’s art teacher, will demonstrate how to fold paper into beautiful decorative objects. For this hands-on program, papers will be supplied. The February meeting will take place in the afternoon, 1:30 p.m., February 21, at the Highland Park Conservative Temple. Light refreshments will be served.

Raritan Valley Chapter of Hadassah and Raritan Valley Young Women Hadassah, L’Dor V’Dor Tu B’Shevat Seder: Tuesday, February 7
The Raritan Valley Chapter of Hadassah and Raritan Valley Young Women Hadassah, L’Dor V’Dor will be holding a Tu B’Shevat Seder on Tuesday, February 7, at 7:30 p.m., at the Highland Park Senior Center, 220 South Sixth Avenue. Tu B’Shevat is the Jewish Arbor Day and the New Year for trees. Ilana Lutman and Neshama Marcus will lead a very festive and educational Tu B’Shevat Seder celebrating spring and the birthday of the trees in Israel. The Seder will feature fruits and nuts mentioned in the Bible, making a tasty and colorful array. $5 couvert at the door. Light refreshments will be provided. Celebrate Hadassah’s Centennial, the organization’s Centennial Stars, Life Members and Associates, and multi-generational families. 2012 honorees: Dr. Perri Klass, renowned pediatrician and writer, professor of Journalism and Medicine at NYU, Medical Director of Reach Out and Read Literacy Program; Sheila Solomon Klass, Writer and English professor at Borough of Manhattan Community College, The City University of New York, Co-authors of: “Every Mother is a Daughter: The Neverending Quest for Success, Inner Peace, and a Really Clean Kitchen” Support the Reach Out and Read Literacy Program. Hadassah Southern New Jersey Region’s Florida Reunion
Hadassah Southern New Jersey Region’s Florida Reunion will take place on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at Benvenuto’s Restaurant, 1730 N. Federal Highway, Boynton Beach, FL. Couvert: $33 (includes lunch and dessert). All proceeds to benefit the extraordinary work of Hadassah. The Reunion will feature Guest Speaker: Ellen Brazer, author of Clouds Across the Sun. From Naples, Florida, New York City, Washington, DC to Israel and then to the killing grounds of Vilnius, Poland this fictionalized story based on fact is one of discovery, romance and enlightenment. Jotto Wells unravels the intrigue surrounding a plan to take over the government of the US. Members, Associates and guests welcome. Raritan Valley Chapter Hadassah Chicks with Sticks
Chicks with Sticks will hold the next meeting on Wednesday, February 15, at 8:15 p.m., at 118 Donaldson Street, Highland Park. We make hats for preemies, children with cancer, and American and Israeli soldiers. Everyone is welcome. Assistance is given to those new to knitting or crocheting. All you need to bring is size 7 and 8 knitting needles. It is best to have bamboo needles as they are easier on your hands. Bring double pointed and/or round needles if you want to learn to knit with them. Yarn and instructions will be provided.
