Clark UNICO Presents Checks

CLARK — The UNICO Clark Chapter presented checks to various organizations, clubs and departments at the monthly council meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 17, from the proceeds of the 5th Annual Italian American Feast last October. “It was huge success far exceeding what we had hoped to profit,” said Ralph Bernardo, Clark Chapter President. “Mother Nature was very good to us as record warm weather really brought out the crowds.

“Many people ask us what we do with the proceeds from the feast. Being a nonprofit organization, all of the money must be given out within a year’s time. Because this is a Clark Chapter, the township as a whole reaps the benefits. Substantial dollar amounts were and are being given out to various organizations, clubs and departments in town.”

In attendance this night to receive checks were Clark Recreation, ALJ Key Club, ALJ Italian American Club, ALJ Booster Club, Project Graduation, Clark Volunteer Fire Dept., Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad, Clark Emergency Management, Clark Police Dept. and the Clark Senior Citizens. “We are happy to donate this money and help out the township in any way we can,” said Bernardo.

In addition, the Clark Chapter donates to the UNICO national charities including Coolies Anemia, mental health, and cancer research.

“To pull off an event of this magnitude takes many hands. The people of Clark along with the UNICO members responded as we had over 120 volunteers for the three-day event. We’d like to publicly thank the Mayor, B A, and council for their full support,” Bernardo said. “In appreciation of all of our volunteers, the chapter held a Thank You dinner at the rec center in November which was attended by 85 of our volunteers.”
