NEWARK—Three Broadway stars will join the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and guest conductor Thomas Wilkins as the orchestra sets the mood for Valentine’s Day with “A Valentine Treat,” the second program of the NJSO’s 2011–12 POPS series, at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Broadway vocalists Gary Mauer, Lisa Vroman and William Michals bring their powerhouse voices and charismatic stage chemistry to the NJSO stage at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark.
The orchestra will perform Rodgers and Hammerstein classics from “The King and I,” “Carousel,” “The Sound of Music,” “Oklahoma!” and “South Pacific” on a program perfect for theater lovers. The evening celebrates Valentine’s weekend with the concert and a post-concert champagne reception.
