SCOTCH PLAINS – Union Catholic faculty member Kim Leegan organized a Great Peacemaker’s Peace Feast for students in her Great Peacemakers class, a humanities elective. The semester-long course involves the studying of important people who have brought peace to the world according to five distinct categories: Choosing Nonviolence, Living Peace, Honoring Diversity, Valuing All Life, and Caring for the Planet.
The Peace Feast offered food representing the different nationalities of peacemakers that the students studied throughout the semester. Serving also as review for mid-year exams, students created and shared trading cards and trivia questions about the peacemakers they would soon be tested on.
