Police Investigate Fatal New Brunswick Shooting

NEW BRUNSWICK – Authorities are investigating the death of a 21-year-old New Brunswick man who was shot on a city street last night, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Director Anthony A. Caputo of the New Brunswick Police Department announced today.

Oswaldo Lozada was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick at 9:51 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9.

The results of an autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the victim was fatally shot.

No arrests have been made, but an investigation by Detective Ronoldy Martinez of the New Brunswick Police Department and Investigator Jeffrey Temple of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office is continuing, authorities said.

The investigation began after police received multiple 911 calls at 8:32 p.m. reporting that shots had been fired in the vicinity of Louis and Somerset streets.

Police arrived and found the victim on Louis Street. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died.
