ELIZABETH — Late on Friday, the Union County Homicide Task Force arrested and charged an Elizabeth man in the homicide of his wife, Union County First Assistant Prosecutor Albert Cernadas, Jr. announced.
Earlier in the day, the Elizabeth Police Department contacted the task force, advising them of the discovery of a woman’s body the vestibule area of her Parker Road apartment. The deceased was identified as Thya Wilson, 45, said Cernadas.
A search warrant was obtained for the apartment and for Ms. Wilson’s vehicle that was located outside the building complex. The Task Force obtained numerous statements and evidence was gathered and examined. According to Cernadas, the investigation revealed that Ms. Wilson was killed inside her apartment and later moved to the vestibule. An autopsy revealed that Ms. Wilson had been deceased for several days.
Based on the investigation, Ms. Wilson’s husband, Reco Parks, was arrested and charged with first degree Murder, said Cernadas. Judge Scott Moynihan set bail at $1.5 million and Parks was being held at the Union County Jail.
This was the first homicide in Union County for 2012, authorities said.
These charges are mere accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
