Linden Police Blotter: Officers Nab Burglary Suspects

Jan. 1 at 11:01 a.m. – Officers responded to a report of a man walking around with a gun in his waistband on the 1200 block of Lincoln Street. After a brief scuffle, Officers Stephanie Diaz and Piotr Matlosz arrested Orange resident Derrick Taylor, 23. Taylor was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon (a .45 caliber handgun loaded with five rounds) and resisting arrest. He was taken to Union County Jail and bail was set at $72,500.

Jan. 2 at 11:33 p.m. – Officers on a surveillance detail observed a suspect pry open a rear door to the former C Town Supermarket on West Edgar Road and begin to remove copper pipes. The officers spotted a silver pickup truck back up to the store’s rear entrance, where the driver helped the initial suspect load the pipe into the truck bed.

Police arrested Marvin L. Ratchford, 51, of Linden, Reginald C. Ingram, 39, of North Brunswick, and Brenda R. Peoples, 44, of Roselle Park, who was a passenger in the truck. They were charged with burglary, theft, and possession of burglary tools. In addition, Ratchford was charged with criminal mischief. Bail was set at $16,500 for Ratchford and $11,500 each for Ingram and Peoples.
