Police Seek Suspects In December Robbery

PERTH AMBOY – Police are seeking two suspects who are accused of knocking down a woman using a walker and robbing her before Christmas.

The robbery, which took place on Thursday, Dec. 22, when the victim was walking home from ShopRite on Florida Grove Road at around 3 p.m., was reported to police on New Year’s Eve. The victim told officers that she walked past a blue car parked on the side of the road with its hood up, where she saw two men. One of the men asked “Ma’am, do you need help?” and then the other grabbed her from behind, pushed her to the ground and punched her in the chest. The two men got back into the car and drove off.

The victim told police that she didn’t get a good look at the suspects and noted that passing cars did not stop to help, according to Deputy Chief Benjamin Ruiz.

When she got up, the victim noticed that her pocketbook was missing from her walker. According to police, it contained $418 cash, her Social Security Card, two prescription slips for Roxicodone, a 14kt gold necklace valued at $400, and a pair of 14kt gold stud earrings valued at $200.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the robbery to contact the Perth Amboy Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 1-732-324-3829 or the Police Tips Hotline at 1-732-324-3828.
