Temple Announces January Events

EDISON – Temple Emanu-El, located at 100 James Street in Edison, will host a variety of events in January. All events take place at the temple unless otherwise noted. For more information, call 1-732-549-4442.

On Tuesday nights, from 8:30-9:30 p.m., the temple will continue its series of mini-sessions that will address a variety of different topics. These mini-sessions will continue throughout the year and are open to the entire community. Everyone is invited to come to the entire series or to just one class, and to bring friends. There is no charge.
Jan. 3, 10, 17: Loving Liturgy
Jan. 24, 31, Feb. 7: Chanting Esther – Learn to chant the Megillat Esther in time for Purim.

Jan. 7 – Intergenerational Musical Shabbat morning service at 10 a.m.

Jan. 13 – Temple Emanu-El’s Commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr. At 7 p.m., the temple will combine the monthly musical Shabbat Alive! service with the choir of the New Hope Baptist Church for a Baptist-style Shabbat celebration. This will be a special musical and participatory celebration. Guest speaker: Rev. Ronald Owens, Pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church.

Jan. 20 – TOT SHABBAT at 6 p.m. is a program aimed toward younger children up to six years old. It includes an age appropriate Shabbat Service and a Jewish-themed craft project. The regular service will commence at 8 p.m.
