CLARK – Second graders in AnnMarie Estevez’ class at Frank K. Hehnly Elementary School are selected on a rotating bases as a very important person (VIP) each week. The VIP brings in photos and special mementos from home to share with the class. Each day of the week they present different items to the class and speak about the significance of each special memory.
The VIP receives a folder at the end of the week with letters that include positive traits, kind words, and happy memories about them from each classmate, teacher, and family members. The highlight of the week is when the VIP invites one special person of their choice to spend time in the classroom to talk to the students, read stories, share snacks or create crafts.
