CULVER CITY, Calif. – Jason Keller, a 30-year-old tutor from Highland Park continues his winning streak – earning $127,000 over the past five episodes of “Jeopardy!”
“Being on ‘Jeopardy!’ has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember,” Keller said. “Winning my fifth game in a row is a fantastic feeling. There aren’t too many people who can say they’ve done that!”
Keller admits he was nervous before stepping onto the “Jeopardy!” stage to compete in the first game. “It was a little intimidating, but as soon as the theme music came on, I was ready to play!”
In Thursday’s game, Keller held a significant lead over his opponents going into Final “Jeopardy!” Keller said he was thrilled when the Final category was revealed as Islands. “I spent a lot of time studying geography – especially islands. As soon as I saw the category, I knew that I had an excellent chance to win five games in a row,” he said.
Keller returns to the “Jeopardy!” stage Friday to defend his title. He added, “I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to earn enough money to qualify for the Tournament of Champions. That would be a dream come true.”
“Jeopardy!,” the winner of 29 Emmy awards, including the 2011 Emmy for Outstanding Game/Audience Participation Program, was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most awards won by a TV Game Show.
