RAHWAY — On Friday, Dec. 16, Daisy Troop 41401 from Rahway left their Daisy days behind and crossed the bridge into the world of Brownies.
Before their ceremony, all 16 girls performed a creative play telling the fantasy story of how little girls find out about being Brownies. They learn that Brownies are helpful, caring and thoughtful.
Daisies are the initial level of Girl Scouting, named for Girl Scouts founder Juliette “Daisy” Gordon Low. Daisies are typically ages 5-7. Girl Scout Brownies are typically ages 6-9. The term was inspired by the story “The Brownies” by Juliana Horatia Ewing. The two protagonists learn that children can be “helpful Brownies” or “lazy boggarts.”
The Rahway Brownie troop is led by Cecilia Alves, Tifenn Navarro and Michele Schroeder, the with help from parent volunteers.
